Which plug-in solar devices are on the ENA register

Plenty of pages will tell you a compliant device has to be on the ENA register. Far fewer show you what is on it. This is the whole list, read on 30 August 2026.

The register holds 31 entries under its “Plug-in Solar” device type. Of those, the register records20 as Compliant and 11 as Non-compliant. Several well-known brands are currently in the second group — which is a fact about a type-test process with dates in it, not a verdict on a product. Statuses change; check the register itself before you buy.

What being on this register actually means

The government's product specification requires manufacturers to “register devices on the ENA Type Test Register (ENA Direct Connect platform) and obtain confirmation that the device has been assessed and identified as compliant prior to placing them on the market” (§7). That is why the register, and not a seller's description, is the thing worth checking.

It is also worth being precise about the limits of the column below. The status the register publishes is a G98 type-test result. It is not a finding on the plug, the labelling or the documentation the specification separately requires. A device the register lists as compliant has cleared the connection standard; it has not thereby been certified against every line of the specification.

20 entries, grouped by the manufacturer name exactly as the register spells it. Registered capacity is the AC output the device is registered at — nearly all of them sit at the 0.8 kW ceiling the legislation sets.

Northern Ireland is a separate type test

The register records the Great Britain and Northern Ireland G98 type tests in different columns, because they are different tests. Of all 31 entries, 1 carries a Northern Ireland type test at all, and 0 of those is also recorded as compliant.

So a reader in Belfast should not treat any “UK plug-in solar” list, including a shop's, as covering them. That is a data point most articles cannot give you, because they are not looking at the columns.

What this page does not do

It names no price, no panel wattage and no best buy. The register carries none of those, and stromFit has no verified British product data yet — our catalogue and our household simulation are German. Ordering these devices for you would mean inventing the very figures we would be ranking them on.
